Wow, very fun! Their selection of dead things was nice. Some popular guys, but also odd balls you rarely see in museums like super early canines. The rock section was the best. Lots of extremely well curated and informative displays. Lots of cabinets with different rocks of the same group like halides and some paragraphs for laymen to understand. And lots of puns, as a warning.

I recently visited the Museum of Geology and was impressed by its diverse collection, especially the crystals, stones, and the captivating skeleton of a wooly mammoth. The overall experience was enjoyable, but it would be more welcoming for foreigners if there were more English translations in the literature. Nonetheless, a great place for geology enthusiasts!

The Museum of Geology was very interesting. We learned some history of animals that once lived in our area and about rocks and minerals. Lots of cool specimens. Great for kids and adults.

Nice place to spend an afternoon if you like minerals, fossils and ancient history. Parking can be an issue as lots of construction going on here, but we had no problem.

The Museum of Geology is located within the South Dakota college of Mines and technology. This is a lovely little hidden gem to explore and learn. My kids loved all the fossils and stones on display. Very good place to see if you have time in Rapid City, SD and want to spend 30-45 mins checking something out.

We had a great time here. It's a small museum, but free to get in and has a ton of neat rocks and fossils. My son really enjoyed getting to look at all of it. The fluorescent rock exhibit was beautiful and vivid. After stopping at a few places today, this was the one my son talked about the most! I think we spent about an hour here. There was construction across the street, but they had good signs for pointing towards parking. We also liked the gift shop and my son was impressed with all the posters they had ( lots of neat dinosaur and fossil ones).

Free admission and adjacent parking. A lot of authentic fossils instead of just cast replicas.. so much detailed information if inclined but you could also just wander about and survey the exhibits. There is a gift shop and a kid's area, too. If you enjoy geology or fossils - then it's a great way to spend 1-2 hours!
